This is just a summary of the plot. Important details are missing, so if you decide to join, please read the full plot, located HERE.
At times like these the narrator must remain impartial. But it is difficult, when such strong opinions rage and storm at each other (literally, in this case). This world you have entered has been falling apart since the moment it was created. Falling, falling, falling. It is falling into oblivion. Why, you may ask? Because no one is perfect, and here those little imperfections can have the direst consequences…
But that is the end. This is the beginning.
There was a time when there was harmony – though some called it chaos (remember that). There were too beings… forces if you will. No! Don’t call them Gods of Goddesses. That is not what they were. They were bigger than that. Together they were everything. When they worked together, the world was just the way they wanted it to be. It didn’t rain without their knowledge. The sun didn’t shine without their consent. An ant couldn’t die without them knowing.
The first of these beings was called the Heart of the Wild: it was the full force of the wilderness, the grower, and the life giver…But on it’s own the world would overflow; a stagnant pool of existence, more and more diving in, but none ever leaving. Quite simply, overcrowding would suffocate the population while keeping them alive.
This is where the Heart’s counterpart comes in.: the morbidly names Realm of Death. While the Heart gives life, the Realm takes it away. But it is not ‘evil’ (despite the allegations – maybe they are right, after all). Together the Heart and the Realm are like gates in a loch: one lets the water in, and the other takes it out, keeping the water flowing.
Of course, this not being a perfect world, the pattern was difficult, if not impossible to see. There were four who could not see it - supernatural foreigners who came from far away. All they could see was anarchy and chaos. It was a terrible world they saw. Innocent foals and cubs died while murders lived. How could this be a good place to live? And the source of all that was bad with the land was the Heart and it’s partner, the Realm.
What did they do about it? Well, the details are sketchy and many are almost completely unknown. Somehow the four foreigners managed to trap the Heart and the Realm. The Heart was imprisoned deep in a mountain range, where the high walls of stone trapped it. A band of native horses and wolves were ordered to guard it. The Realm was caged under the earth, unable to break through the ground above it. A horse and a wolf were given the task of trapping it for eternity.
Then the four emerged, fashioning themselves as Gods and Goddesses, the saviours of the world. Everyone would be loyal to someone. Every horse, every wolf, every cub or foal would have their place, their category. A perfect system? You tell me.
But they had miscalculated the power of the Heart and the Realm. Separate they could not escape, however they could still stretch their influence out to those around them: their guards. The Heart turned them wild, uncontrollable. Their decedents still live on, though they are not quite as wild. The Realm made his captors hungry for destruction of the Gods and Goddesses. Demonic, even. Though the Heart and Realm could not escape, this influence was enough for the wheels of war to be set in motion.
Years passed, and the Gods and their consorts became aware of the Devils and the Heart’s followers, the Wild Ones.
There was war. The Devils stretched out their influence to mortal horses, turning them evil – turning them into everything the Gods thought the Realm was.
Still the War raged.
By a strange series of events, a single horse made his way to the Heart’s impenetrable prison. This brute was influenced by the Devil Inferno, and though him, the Realm. He had already brought war to the Gods, destroying their precious alliances. Of course, he had no idea who he was really working for.
In the space of a few months everything the Gods and Goddesses had made was almost completely destroyed. But more importantly, with a CRACK, a BANG, and a thundered CHRASH, the Heart and the Realm were free, free, free…
And now the imperfections of this world come back to haunt us again. Something when wrong. Something went incredible, totally, terrifically wrong. The Heart and the Realm couldn’t work together anymore. There was tension between them. They were out of sync.
Here are the facts:1) They could not work together as well as they should. And that meant that
2) They could not destroy the Gods and Goddesses like they had planned.
3) The Diving beings still had a hold on almost half the world.
4) A fraction of their power was transferred. Transferred into ordinary horses and wolves.
The last one was definitely the worst. Or the best. It really depends how you look at it. But either way, some had powers, some had none. Some wanted the world to go back to the way the Gods had it. Some just wanted to have more powers.
Once again, the world was broken. Can you fix it?
